This is just a reminder that kayaks and canoes that are still on the storage racks here at the store were supposed to be removed by Nov 1st. There are still a lot of boats on the racks. We are extending the deadline to Nov. 15th (next Wednesday), but please understand that Nov 15th is absolutely the latest date in order to avoid the $50 fee as per the contract signed. Please understand, we DO NOT want to have to charge you this fee! However, it is really important that the boats are removed so that we can reposition the racks for the winter so they are out of the way of the snowmobile trail. Please understand that these racks are a lot of work for us and we are happy to keep them here for people to rent every year as long as the rules are followed.  Also... if you left a boat on the LAWN, despite the fact that there are TWO big signs asking you not to, anything still there after Nov 15th will be disposed of in a way that we see fit (auctioned off, thrown out, etc).  Thank you for your understanding!

Ok everyone- last post about Halloween, I promise. I want to express how wonderful of an experience this was. SO MANY people reached out to me to help put this event together. Every single day someone else was coming into the store asking what they can do to help and this whole thing really was a community effort. A HUGE thank you to Amy and Scott Smart, who provided many of the awesome decorations you saw outside and helped with setting up and breaking down... all in the same day. Thank you to Rob Ramrath for helping set up the lights and sound outside for us, and to Jeanne and Kassie... my employees who volunteered to come help me decorate.  Thank you to Heartwood Farm, Fred Schlabach & the Bethany Mennonite Church, On the Edge Farm, The Taft/LaBaron's, and Jenny on rt 12 (sorry I don't have a last name) for donating pumpkins for the event... and to Kate Reeves for helping deliver them! Thank you to Wanaka and Twin Farms for putting together the photo booth at the post office parking lot. It was a HUGE hit and an awesome idea. Thank you to the Barnard Fire Dept for opening up the new fire house for the kids to see. They LOVED it! Thank you to Marty Bell and Will Dodson for providing all of the s'mores for the s'mores fire pit!  And thank you to everyone in the village who opened their houses to trick or treaters and those of you who came down to the lake for trunk or treating. Also those of you who donated "treats" here at the store and at the school.  I'm sure there are people I am missing... but please accept my heartfelt thank you to all of those who helped me make this event happen. I've already started thinking about my costume for next year.... Thank you again,

Final Halloween Update! If you are a volunteer or plan to attend "Halloween in Barnard" please read below: If you are one of the trick or treating houses that signed up:
you can grab a bag of candy that has been donated here at the store starting FRIDAY afternoon. Just ask the cashier. We will also have little signs that the local kids made in after school program so that the houses are easily identified for trick or treaters. If you could hang one of the signs on your door, mailbox, or fence, it would be really helpful (there will still be a map handed out, but this will make everything easier for the kids). If you are a "trunk" for trunk or treating:
please arrive between 3:30 and 4 on Halloween and park down by the lake. There will be someone there blocking off spots for trunks so they are all in a row next to each other. DECORATING your trunk is encouraged! If you don't have anything to decorate with, we may have extra decorations we can help you out with!  If you would like to help us decorate.... show up anytime between 12-3pm on Halloween! Other activities going on:
There will be a s'mores fire pit on Marty Bell's property across the street from the store on Lilli Lane (Thanks Marty!).
The Fire Depertment will be at their new location next to Town Hall, allowing the kids to see inside the fire truck and new firehouse! (Awesome idea... thank you!)
There will be giant bubbles, pumpkin bowling, donuts on a string, and pumpkin painting down by the lake (thanks to the Barnard Bees and the BGS).
An arts and craft table (thanks to Amy Smart) outside of the store.
Twin Farms will be hosting a photo booth at the post office parking lot (Thanks so much, guys!).
The BGS will be serving special Halloween dinner options until 5:30pm. We are making jackolantern quesadillas and hot dogs that look like bloody fingers! We will also offer our usual sandwich menu.
There will be a mystery box guessing game inside the BGS and coloring options available for the kids as well.
There will be a table set up outside near the side porch of the BGS to place your vote for our annual costume contest. I want to extend a huge thank you to EVERYONE who has helped with this. It really has been an awesome experience and so many people have reached out to help make this happen. It made putting this whole thing together really fun and easy! Now fingers crossed for good weather! See you on Tuesday from 4-6:30pm!!!
