he community of Barnard, through the Barnard Community Trust, has completed its financial goal. Enough funds were raised to complete the closing on the property of the Barnard General Store and make it possible to reopen the store by May 1st of 2013. As of the end of September, we were able to pay off the remaining mortgage, made possible by some very generous donations.
Since the BCT owns the building and the property, the BCT is responsible for the property taxes and insurance on the building. This will not change. An old building, and the BGS is very old, will always need repairs and upkeep. For all the aforementioned reasons, we still need to continue our fundraising efforts to insure that the building and property remain intact for years to come.
The Barnard Community Trust wishes to thank all those who contributed to the efforts that made our goal of reopening the store a reality.
